Teaching and Scholarly Interests: Chinese
Dr Lau received his BA degree in Chinese with first-class honours, MPhil (received an Outstanding Research Thesis Award) and PhD in Chinese Linguistics from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and PGDE in Chinese Teaching from The University of Hong Kong.
Dr Lau’s research interests lie in Chinese Semantics and Chinese Lexicology. His teaching interests are Classical Chinese, Chinese Rhetoric and Chinese Professional Writing. Prior to joining this institution, He had taught courses in Classical Chinese, Chinese Philology, Chinese Rhetoric and Academic Writing in CityU and The Hong Kong Institute of Education.
Besides teaching, Dr Lau is also an active researcher and has published papers in various academic journals, including Studies in Chinese Linguistics, Journal of Southwest Jiaotong University (Social Sciences) and Journal of Chinese Information Processing.
