Dr A. Vyas received his Ph.D. in Physics in 2002 from the City University of Hong Kong. He then worked at the City University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong in various research positions. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and worked as a Lecturer from 2007 to 2010, then as a Teaching Fellow up to 2020. He has several years of teaching experience in a wide array of areas, including Composite Materials, Nano- and Micro-Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Prototyping, Materials and Product Testing Technology, and Aircraft Systems. Dr Vyas has also contributed towards enhancing the quality of scientific teaching and learning and has conducted research on effective teaching and learning.

Dr Vyas has been actively involved and interested in research related to Composite Materials, Surface Coatings and their Mechanical & Tribological Properties, Structure and Properties of Materials, Materials Characterisation, and High-temperature Superconductivity. He has published extensively in these areas, contributing publications to leading journals, including Composites Science and Technology, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, and Thin Solid Films.

Dr Vyas serves the professional community in the capacity of a reviewer for many scientific journals; he is also an editorial board member of several scientific journals.
