Dr Elaine Chan obtained her Doctor of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University, Master of Philosophy (major in Tourism) and Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Management (with first class honours) from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is also a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) of the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.

Prior to joining this institution, she was a teaching assistant for courses on theme parks and attractions management as well as a Research Associate in the SHTM. She also worked in the sales and marketing department of several Hong Kong tourist attraction companies and worked as an event organiser for corporate and entertainment events.

At this institution, Dr Chan conducts teaching in several areas such as Hospitality and Tourism Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Event, Convention and Meeting Management, and Strategic Management. Furthermore, she has previously served as an external examiner for an Applied Learning course in Event Management as well as HD and AD courses in Hospitality and Tourism Management in other local institutions.
